Antonio Inoki [Japanese Topic]

http://www.sponichi.co.jp/battle/special/wwe_smj/KFullNormal20100201153.html

Antonio Inoki who is the superstar in Japan seems to have decided entering the hall of fame of WWE for the first time in Japanese!
This decision seems to be made because of his great contribution to development and enhancement of "Sports entertainment" for 50 years.

I think that he've achieved the distinguished services to realize the mixed match with Muhammad Ali.
And after that, he realize a lot of mixed matches with various combative sports, for example Judo, Kick Boxing, Karate and so on.

Moreover, the victory ceremony is scheduled with Dodge Theatre of Arizona on March 27 and Stan Hansen who is a former rival of Antonio Inoki seems to serve as the presenter.
Stan Hansen did not become famous too much in the US, but in Japan he was very popular as Antonio Inoki's rival as well as Hulk Hogan.
FYI: Hulk Hogan -> http://jpn-topics.blog.so-net.ne.jp/2010-01-31-2

At that time, the professional wrestling was booming in Japan and many boys pretended to be the superstars, for example Antonio Inoki, Stan Hansen, Hulk Hogan, Tiger Mask, Andre the Giant, Abdullah the Butcher and so on.

It seems to schedule to fill with the honor in the stadium on "Wrestle Mania 26" on March 28. This is broadcast by not only all Americans PPV but also 145 countries in the world! Maybe you can watch it in your country.
It is regrettable that Japanese superstars who are famous all over the world like Antonio Inoki don't come out in the combative sports field.

FYI: Please enjoy following DVD if you're interested in Antonio Inoki.

Hulk Hogan [Japanese Topic]

When I checked the sports news happened in the US, I sometimes saw the name of Hulk Hogan and I remembered his fight.

Hulk Hogan must be the most famous professional wrestler in the world in the professional wrestrling history.
In the 1980's, he was the most popular foreign wrestler in Japan and Japanese were excited about the desperate fight with "Antonio Inoki"("アントニオ猪木") who fought againt Muhammad Ali.

Moreover, Hulk Hogan greatly contributed to the growth of WWF.
At that time, there was not the Internet, so I get excited about his activities in th US to read monthly or weekly magazines in Japan.

Hulk Hogan shouted "ICHIBAN!!"("一番" in Kanji) that literally means No.1 in the ring and this performance got into the news in Japan. At that time, the tank top, T-shirt, headband etc written "一番" were released.
"ICHIBAN" became one of famous Japanese as a word that meant No.1 in the US now.
I bought the headband written "一番" in Roma..

I'd like to watch his fight again!

iPad impact [Japanese Topic]

iPad announced from Apple is a big topic in Japan as expected.
http://jpn-topics.blog.so-net.ne.jp/2010-01-27-1

And the major turning point seems to visit a mobile phone industry in Japan.

There is a peculiar commercial practice in Japan that is called "SIMロック"("SIM Lock").
For instance, you can use the SIM card of NTT DoCoMo between cellular phones of NTT DoCoMo. However, it is not possible to use it with cellular phones of Softbank.
Thanks to this practice, a mobile phone carreers can enclose their users.

But the news said yesterday that NTT DoCoMo seemed to be considering sales with a SIM card unit according to the sale in Japan of iPad!
Moreover, NTT DoCoMo seems to be examining sales of a SIM card for Nexus One provided by Google!
I think this is a big impact on the mobile phone industry in Japan!

There is a possibility that Japanese users can freely choose the carriers and the portable terminals like foreign countries in the future.
On the other hand, it will be easier for the foreign portable terminals such as iPhone, iPad, Kindle and Nexus One to launch in Japan market.

Sumo Problem [Japanese Topic]

"相撲"("Sumo") is the national sport of Japan.
It dates back to the fifth century , so it has a history of more than 1400 years.
Two very fat wrestlers compete in the small ring and the game time is usually within a minute.
A key factor to win Sumo is a explosive power.

Sumo strongly reflects the Japanese culture and it's very conservative, but it's experiencing globalization. Recently, there are a lot of wrestlers from foreign countries, for example Mongolia, US, Brazil, Russia etc.

FYI: Country Ranking in Sumo history

http://www.mofa.go.jp/mofaj/world/ranking/rikishi.html

1.Mongolia, 2.US, 3.Brazil, 4,5:Koria & Taiwan, 6:China, 7:Tonga, 8:Russia, 9,10:The Republic of Georgia & The Philippines

The top rank of Sumo wrestlers is called "Yokozuna".
Do you remember Yokozuna who won the WWF Championship twice? He was not the real "Yokozuna".
Do you remember Akebono of WWE? He was the real "Yokozuna". He was one of the strongest foreign wrestlers.

Both of two present Yokozuna are Mongolians.
However, some foreign wrestlers occasionally causes the problems in Japan.
"朝青龍"("Asa-Shou-Ryu") who is one of present Yokozuna frequently makes troubles and recently he is getting into the news because of a suspected assault to a general person.

The population of Japan is decreasing and Japan needs to accept a lot of foreigners in the future and the Japan society also faces this issues as well as Sumo. I think the Japan society needs to overcome this issues.

***********************
After all, on February 4, "朝青龍"("Asa-Shou-Ryu") declared the retirement because of taking the responsibility of the scandal.

Trains in Japan [Japanese Topic]

In the big cities of Japan, most people use trains, subways and buses for communing.
These transportation systems are basically punctual, but they are always crowded.
Japanese businessperson are exausted before they get to work...

The train is occasionally delayed due to the accidents resulting in injury or death and the train troubles, etc. Then, the passengers flow into other trains, and it becomes terrible crowded!
When I see the train more crowded than usually, I get less energetic , saying that "Ah... the accident has occurred!!". At that time, most people inform the company that they will be late for getting to work by e-mail.

Recentry, the railroad corporations provides the convenient services for the passengers.
They e-mail to the passengers when their train is late. Thanks to this service, I can know the accident in advance and change how to get to the company.

Today, "新幹線"("Shinkansen") which is the high speed train in Japan was shut for three hours today, but it is basically punctual as well as other Japanese trains.
I hope "新幹線"("Shinkansen") is implemented all over the world and a lot of people experience the excellent services!

Skiing Crisis [Japanese Topic]

http://www.asahi.com/olympics/news/TKY201001210181.html

It's a sad news for Japan.
Skiing will become 100 year in the next year in Japan, but the population of skiing has decreased little by little.
The boom of skiing was generated in the beginning of the 90's and at that time "苗場"("Naeba") in Niigata prefecture is the symbol of skiing. But it seems that only 1/4 of all rooms were made reservations in Naeba Prince Hotel. This is a considerably critical situation.

Skiing is cold and costs too much, so they say Japanese young people don't like skiing.
The scenery seen from the snow mountain is very beautiful and I love it!

Everybody in the foreign countries, please come to the ski area in Japan by all means!

iPhone vs Android [Japanese Topic]

NTT DoCoMo grandly announced Sony Ericsson's Google Android-powered smartphone Xperia on Jan 21. Now, it is a big topic in Japan, and they say "NTT DoCoMo finally announced iPhone rival!". There are a lot of comparison articles on iPhone and Xperia.
After announcement of today's Apple, there will be a lot of articles on new iPhone OS.

In Japan, smart phones did not sell good for a long time. Recently, sales of iPhone has increased greatly.
iPhone is exclusively sold by SoftBank that is No.3 market share in Japan and the users of NTT DoCoMo that is No.1 market share in Japan wanted to get smart phones like iPhone, so Xperia is highly expected by them.

The acknowledgment level of Android in Japan is still low without geeks. I think Xperia has higer peformance than iPhone, but the UI of iPhone is more refined than one of Xperia.
Now, Android phones have various specs and versions of Androis OS, and it's difficult for the ordinary users to choose an Android phone. I think that geeks buy Android phones for a while.

However, it's possible for Japanese phones to be sold all over the world because of using Android OS that is the worldwide platform. I expect Japanese players to deliver their experienced service and applications to the world.

Cleaner Tool [Japanese Topic]

It is said that Japanese is cleanly. Japanese vacuum every day to keep their house from being dusty.
Actually, a person from a certain country sometimes helps to clean my house, but some dust remain.
Thus, my family remove the dust... It may be characteristic of Japanese.

Recently, there are a lot of working in double harness and it is not difficult to vacuum in nighttime.
So, the cleaner with quiet sound sells.
Moreover, Roomba is getting popular in Japan, because it clean during one's absence in daytime.
My family also make good use of Roomba!

FYI) My Roomba is below.

However, Roomba cannot remove the dust in cracks and locations difficult to reach of the space. Then, I highly recommend the useful tool which is provided by Kao. My family love it!
We can remove any dust anywhere using it, because it expands and contracts freely and the point of it bends.
Moreover, it's reasonable.

Baumkuchen [Japanese Topic]

Last night, I watched the very interesting documentary tv program that my DVD recorder recorded.
That was a story of Karl Juchheim who is German, and he is the person who introduced Baumkuchen("バームクーヘン" in Japanese) to Japanese for the first time.
In Japan, Baumkuchen("バームクーヘン") is one of the most popular sponge cake as well as "カステラ"("Kasutera").
I could know the origin of my lovely Baumkuchen("バームクーヘン").

My favorite Baumkuchen("バームクーヘン") is one of "CLUB HARIE". I strongly recommend you.
http://clubharie.jp/baumkuchen/

"CLUB HARIE" of "三越"("Mitsukoshi") that is a department store in Tokyo always forms a line greatly. However, it is really delicious!

"CLUB HARIE" is a department of "たねや"("Takneya") that provides a five-star Japanese-style confection. I'd like to have it!

Tsukaisute-Kairo [Japanese Topic]

In winter in Japan, it's very cold outside... But we have to go out!
And then it's necessary for Japanese to carry "使い捨てカイロ"("Tsukaisute-Kairo").

"使い捨てカイロ"("Tsukaisute-Kairo") is the one like a disposable heating that can be carried and a variety of "使い捨てカイロ"("Tsukaisute-Kairo") is sold in the convenience store and pharmacy in Japan.
It exists for adults and for children.

It's packed with the vacuum packing and the no oxygen wrapping, etc. befor use and after it is sealed up, the oxidation starts and the heat is generated.

It's a indispensable tool outside in winter because it makes us warm and unremarkable.
In winter, my wife always puts "使い捨てカイロ"("Tsukaisute-Kairo") on her back and the stomach when she goes out. I've loved it since I was a child.

FYI: Please try it!
